Advanced UV & Oxidation
High-intensity UV and advanced oxidation technologies can be used to break down VOCs and odour-causing compounds within contaminated air streams.
Rather than relying solely on adsorption, oxidation can transform suitable organic compounds before the air passes through subsequent polishing stages.
These systems can be combined with activated carbon or specialist filtration media to provide highly effective multi-stage odour treatment.
Typical applications: food processing, waste treatment, wastewater, biogas, rendering and industrial process exhaust.
Hydrogen Sulphide & Sulphur Control
Hydrogen sulphide and other reduced sulphur compounds can create some of the most challenging industrial odour problems.
We can incorporate specialist adsorption media, chemical treatment, oxidation and other technologies specifically selected for the expected H₂S and sulphur loading.
For more complex applications, sulphur treatment can form the first stage of a wider multi-stage odour-control system.
Typical applications: wastewater, sewage treatment, pumping stations, sludge processing, biogas, anaerobic digestion and organic waste.
Ammonia & Amine Control
Ammonia and amines require careful consideration when designing an odour-control system.
Depending on concentration, airflow and process conditions, treatment options can include specialist chemically treated media, adsorption systems, biological treatment and wet or dry chemical processes.
These technologies can be combined with downstream carbon or other polishing stages where the exhaust contains a mixture of ammonia, VOCs and other odorous compounds.
Typical applications: food waste, rendering, wastewater, composting, agriculture, sludge treatment and biological processes.
Oil Mist, Aerosol & Particle Separation
Where process air contains significant levels of oil, grease, moisture or particulate matter, these contaminants should often be removed before the air reaches the main odour-treatment stages.
We can incorporate centrifugal separation, mechanical filtration, coalescing filtration and other pre-treatment technologies to protect downstream equipment and improve overall system performance.
In suitable applications, separated liquids or oils may also be collected for recovery or further treatment.
Typical applications: industrial frying, food production, roasting, rendering and high-oil or high-aerosol industrial exhaust.
Activated Carbon & Specialist Media
Activated carbon remains one of the most versatile technologies available for industrial odour and VOC control.
Different carbon grades and chemically treated adsorption media can be selected according to the compounds being treated, including specialist media for VOCs, hydrogen sulphide, ammonia and other difficult contaminants.
Carbon can be used as the primary treatment technology or, increasingly, as a final polishing stage following another treatment process.
Biological Odour Control
For appropriate applications, biofiltration and other biological treatment technologies can provide an effective, low-energy method of treating biodegradable odorous compounds.
Contaminated air is passed through specially selected media supporting microorganisms that naturally break down target compounds.
Biological treatment can be particularly attractive for continuously operating processes with suitable contaminant concentrations and air conditions.
Wet & Dry Scrubbing
Where contaminant concentrations require it, wet or dry scrubbing can provide highly effective treatment for specific gases and chemical compounds.
Scrubbing can be incorporated as a dedicated treatment stage or combined with filtration, oxidation, adsorption and polishing technologies to create a complete air-treatment system.
